Chloe grew up in a fostering household where her parents welcomed many children and young people into their family. Chloe has fond memories particularly of her foster sisters who were a big part of her life and upbringing. The relationships with the children and young people who came into Chloe’s life inspired her to become a Social Worker.
Before qualifying in 2016, Chloe’s journey began working in an educational setting for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. She has also experienced working in a drug and alcohol service for young people, Local Authority as a Children and Families Social Worker as well as being a panel member for the approval of Foster Parents and completing Form F assessments as an independent assessor.
When Chloe was being interviewed for her first social work position, a care leaver as part of the interviewing panel asked Chloe an interesting question. He said – ‘If you were a sweet, which sweet would you be?’ This question has stayed with Chloe as it was so unexpected and displayed how young people think and perceive the world and how fun it can be! The answer to the question was of course a lemon sherbet, as this best describes Chloe... A little tough on the outside but a fizzy and bubbly on the inside!
